Volunteer of the Year
Lianne Dooley
Lianne has been volunteering for at least 15 years coaching the current YWCA Bury U16 team since they were 11 years old with coaching and matches minimum of 4 hours per week. She has been the Chairman of Bury Ladies Netball league, spends at least 3 hours per week on this role, table official for senior YWCA club and Northern Thunder 2 hours per week and

Regular Commitment
Lianne is out 4 nights a week coaching or supporting some development in netball. Her weekly commitment is to ensure that the 65 teams who play netball in the Bury League is running smoothly due to Lianne’s excellent organisational skills working with her committee, Matches are played in a sporting friendly vein and results are put on the web site and disputes are sorted quickly. Monthly League meeting are delivered swiftly and efficiently.
Benefits the wider community
Lianne was instrument in setting up the Back to Netball sessions in Bury allowing 30 women weekly from the community to get back into sport, keep fit and healthy. The sessions have been running over 18 months now. Lianne worked with a group of the women from the session to set up a team they are now playing in the Bury Ladies Netball League.
Personal Development
This last 12 months Lianne has attend furthered Table Official Training, First Aid Training and a workshop for Coaching Talented players. Lianne is a Qualified coach at Level 2, B Award Umpire, Table Official and First Aider.
Lianne has volunteered to be a Table Official for the Super League Netball Fixtures for Northern Thunder, two of which have been televised. In the past Lianne has been a Table Official for England Netball at International matches. In October Lianne was a Table official for England Netball when the England Talent Squads tested a new game FASTNET at Leigh Sports Village.
Extra Mile. In Lianne’s U16 squad two of the girls Natalie Haythornewaite and Jodie Gibson have been selected for the England Talent 1 Squad and Sascha Eady has been selected for the Leeds Junior Super League Squad. For the last 12 months Lianne has been supporting these girls at they have attended Strength and Conditioning weekly session either by taking them to sessions or finding a gym where the S&T coach can work. As a result of the extra fitness session which Lianne has supported, the girls have been given the edge to be selected for the Super League and England Talent squads in the last 12 months.

YWCA Netball teams are in every division of the Bury Ladies League
Five of our coaches have achieved the UKCC Level 2 award this year 3 have achieved their UKCC level 1 award and one is working towards Level 3 award. Three coaches where involved in the Women to High Level Coaching scheme and the Senior Club coach mentors the junior club coaches. Four Coaches attended the Coaching Talented players workshop . Six attended a First aid course. Three attended Child Protection course.
We have an open door policy welcoming children of all abilities running as many teams as we need to ensure all the children get to play at their desired level. At the Talent end of we have provided a Strength and Condition Coach for our Talented players which has resulted in 3 players being selected for the England Talent squads and 5 players playing for Northern Thunder Super league
Volunteer recruitment, we have job descriptions for all our roles. Coaches are recruited into the U11’s where they spend 12 months working alongside, Jean our qualified coach. The club pays for volunteers to attend Coaching courses, first aid and Child Protection Courses, so they are ready to take on the new U12 age group in September, we have been using this system for the last 15 years and it works.
The club has 18 qualified coaches.

End of each year all volunteers attend a restaurant to say thank you for yet another season

The Club have a Child Protection Policy and ensure all volunteers attend and update their Child Protection Training.
Statement
Regaining the Gold Club Accreditation shows that all our 20 volunteers are working hard to provide a friendly, fun, safe learning environment to all who want to play netball in Bury at all levels over that last 12 months.
